The California Assembly has one bill before them this week that is of considerable interest to me. That bill is AB 362, "California Ammunition Registration Bill". This bill is sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin DeLeon D-45 (Los Angeles Area). To quote another blogger, Jenn of the Jungle, "What a Libtard!"
AB362 would require identification be presented for all mail order and face-to-face ammunition sales. Sellers of ammunition would be forced to keep detailed and accurate sales records. No retail seller of ammunition would be able to sell, offer for sale, or display for sale any ammunition in a manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without the assistance of the retailer or authorized employee. The bill was amended to include a “user fee” on ammunition sales to defray the cost of background checks on purchasers.
What a load of crap! This bill must be defeated in the Assembly.
Oh, it sounds great if you live in a city. But if you live in the central valleys, mountains and high deserts of California, then this is a joke piece of legislation.

Hahaha... definitely have to agree there Dave - even any decently intelligent liberal would know that this bill is all about face and not about substance. The issue with gun crimes in cities has little to do with how the gun trade is regulated. There is and will always be a thriving black market - in cities and in rural communities. Nearly every time the state or federal government attempts to ban something or heavily restrict it, a brand spanking new economy is created on the black market. This case would only prove that ten fold... especially so since it is a state law and California borders some fairly open markets.
If we could find more than a couple politicians with common sense, then this republic of ours might actually function on a respectable level. Do you think for even one second that DeLeon knows anything about inner-city crime and actual studies done on the availability of weapons - not to mention the effects this bill would have on a massive, legitimate sporting industry?
Another endearing example of American hubris if you ask me!
ST - I could definitely think of a few counties in NorCal that would thumb there nose at the "new law" and sell ammo the old fashioned way.
Around here the hunting and sporting industry is huge. This kind of law would create havoc.
Dave,
Can you please Fed Ex me some ammo? I've got some Mexicans to kill.
Kent - If it was only so easy...
If only we'd follow the immigration laws currently on the books AND build a fence AND increase the number of Border Patrol...
Then it would be 'Booty Time, Booty Time, across the U.S.A...'
